  Lithium ion batteries can be divided into solid electrolyte lithium batteries and liquid electrolyte lithium batteries based on different electrolyte materials. Solid electrolyte lithium batteries are further divided into two types, namely polymer electrolyte lithium batteries and inorganic electrolyte lithium batteries. The main batteries widely used in mobile power supply are liquid electrolyte lithium batteries and polymer electrolyte lithium batteries in solid-state electrolyte lithium batteries. More specifically, the most common cells in mobile power supply are 18650 lithium-ion cells and polymer lithium-ion cells. Usually referred to as 18650 cells or polymer cells. In general, we can see on the box or instruction manual that the specification parameters indicate the type of battery cell for the mobile power supply, and the box or instruction manual generally indicates lithium-ion and polymer cells.

  The biggest difference between 18650 lithium-ion cells and polymer lithium-ion cells is that 18650 lithium-ion cells do not come with protective circuits. Let's first talk about why it is called 18650 lithium-ion battery cells. In fact, 18650 refers to cylindrical batteries with a diameter of 18 millimeters and a height of 65 millimeters. To put it bluntly, 18650 is actually just a naming convention for cylindrical batteries. The 18650 battery cell we are talking about here mainly refers to the 18650 lithium-ion battery cell. The most commonly used lithium-ion cell in mobile power sources is ICR18650, which uses layered lithium cobalt oxide as the positive electrode material. 18650 is generally packaged in steel shells, with a single section capacity of 2200mAh, 2400mAh, 2600mAh, etc. Mobile power supply manufacturers usually connect multiple 18650 sections in parallel to increase capacity, which is why some mobile power supply capacities are not integers.

  The biggest advantage of 18650 lithium-ion batteries is their cheapness and low cost. The disadvantage is that the safety is relatively poor and there is a possibility of self explosion. Most mobile power supplies priced around a hundred yuan use 18650 lithium-ion cells. The service cycle life of 18650 lithium-ion cells is about 300 times.
