  (1) Physical self-discharge:

  It refers to the self-discharge caused by physical reasons. When the battery self-discharge occurs, the electrons flow from the negative pole of the battery to the positive pole of the battery to form an electronic current and the ionic current in the electrolyte to form a current circuit. Characteristics of physical self-discharge: ① less affected by temperature; ② It can cause the final open-circuit voltage of the battery to be zero.

  (2) Chemical self-discharge:

  It refers to the self-discharge caused by chemical reasons. When the battery self-discharge occurs, there is no current between the positive and negative electrodes of the battery.

  Characteristics of chemical self-discharge:

  ① It is greatly affected by temperature;

  ② It is greatly affected by the state of charge of the battery;

  ③ Chemical self-discharge cannot lead to zero battery voltage.
