Pre -heating of lithium batteries is one of the effective ways to solve the problem of low temperature characteristics of lithium batteries. The use of lithium battery's own power to provide power supply for heating equipment is a commonly used battery heating method, but this method will consume a considerable part of the battery energy during the heating process, which will reduce the effective capacity of lithium battery discharge to a certain extent. Common lithium battery low temperature heating technology is divided into two types: external heating and internal heating. Let's introduce these two lithium battery low temperature heating technology. External heating methods include air heating, liquid heating, phase -changing material heating, and heat resistance heating device or heat pump heating. These heating methods are generally located in the battery pack, or in a container that is set in a thermal circulation medium. The internal heating method heating the battery is to motivate the internal electrochemical substances inside the battery through AC current, so that the battery itself generates heat.
1. External heating
Regarding the use of air to heat, some researchers used the battery to conduct experiments with a set of atmospheric simulation systems. The experimental results showed that compared to batteries exposed in low -temperature environments, the surrounding air was heated to release more capacity.
Compared with air heating, liquid heating has a better heating rate and higher thermal conversion efficiency. However, liquid heating requires more complicated heating systems. There are many practical cases in the application of liquid heating in electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles. For example: In the Chevrolet Volt car, heating surrounding the battery pack heating solution is heated by a 360V heater.
The heating battery of phase -changing materials has also been used. When the battery temperature drops to the phase change temperature point of the phase transformer material, the heat stored in the phase transformer material will be released to keep the ambient temperature constant, that is, pass the calories to the battery pack. The main advantage of phase -changing materials is that it can be used in an environment with a faster temperature change.
2. Internal heating
Communication inspiration heating. Compared with external heating, another commonly used heating method, the structural design will be relatively simple, that is, heating batteries through the transformer current. It does not need to be designed with heat transfer structure, but only loads a certain frequency of communication and incentives in the positive and negative electrode of the battery. The incentive effect is on the electrochemical substance inside the battery, which is equivalent to the effect of reciprocating and discharging discharge.
Compared with DC heating current, the AC current or positive square wave current can heated the battery during the discharge and charging cycle, so that the battery temperature will rise, and the battery loading status (SOC) is basically unchanged. Due to these characteristics, the internal warm -up method has become a field of more research. In 2004, a foreign researcher was the first to propose to use the current transformer current to heated directly to the lithium ion battery, and only use the resistance effect of the battery to produce heat. They did some tests of different batteries in different SOC states and different temperatures (-20 ° C ~ 40 ° C). The test results show that under a certain multiplier current, all batteries will produce heat quickly.
