Zinc silver batteries, commonly known as silver zinc batteries, use potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide as the electrolyte, with silver as the positive electrode material and zinc as the negative electrode material. The active substance on the positive electrode made of silver is porous silver, while the active substance on the negative electrode made of zinc is mainly zinc oxide. The main advantage of zinc silver batteries is their high specific energy, with an energy to mass ratio (effective electrical energy generated per unit mass) of 100W · h/kg to 130W · h/kg (3-4 times that of lead-acid batteries). Zinc silver batteries suitable for high current discharge are used in military, aviation, mobile communication equipment, electronic instruments, artificial satellites, space navigation, and other fields. Made into button type miniature zinc silver batteries for use in electronic watches, hearing aids, computers, and pacemakers.
