  The battery voltage of a typical mobile phone is written as 3.7V, but the voltage of a typical charger is written as 5V, which will not affect its use as there are no 3.7V mobile phone chargers available for sale. Do not overcharge a new battery

  For the "activation" issue of newly purchased lithium-ion batteries, there are numerous claims that the charging time must exceed 12 hours and be repeated three times in order to activate the battery. The statement that the first three charges require more than 12 hours of charging is clearly a continuation of nickel batteries (such as nickel cadmium and nickel hydrogen). So this statement can be said to have been misinterpreted from the beginning. There are significant differences in the charging and discharging characteristics between lithium batteries and nickel batteries, and it can be very clear that all serious formal technical materials emphasize that overcharging and overcharging can cause significant harm to lithium batteries, especially liquid lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, it is best to charge according to standard time and methods, especially do not charge for longer than 12 hours.

  So does the battery need to be activated? The answer is yes, it needs to be activated! However, this process is completed by the manufacturer and is not related to the user, and the user does not have the ability to complete it. The real activation process of a lithium ion battery is as follows: the lithium ion battery shell is filled with electrolyte - sealed - formed, which is constant voltage charging, then discharged, and subjected to several cycles to fully immerse the electrode in the electrolyte and activate it until the capacity meets the requirements. This is the activation process - capacity division, which means that the lithium ion battery has already been activated by the user after leaving the factory. In addition, some of the battery activation processes require the battery to be in an open state, and then sealed after activation. Unless you have battery cell production equipment, how can you complete it?

  But why do some product manuals suggest that users fully charge and discharge their phones for the first three uses? Isn't this activation? In fact, the fact is that after the battery leaves the factory, it is sold, and then reaches the hands of users, it will go through a period of time, one month or several months. As a result, the electrode material of the battery will "passivate", and the capacity will be lower than the normal value, resulting in a shorter usage time. But lithium batteries are easy to activate, as they can be activated and restored to normal capacity after 3-5 normal charging and discharging cycles. Due to the characteristics of lithium battery itself, it has almost no memory effect. Therefore, users do not need special methods or equipment during the activation process of new lithium batteries.
