Internal structure of lithium iron phosphate battery

  Lithium iron phosphate battery is a lithium ion battery which uses lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4, referred to as LFP) material as the battery cathode. Its internal structure is shown in Figure 1:

  On the left is LiFePO4 with olivine structure as the positive pole of the battery, which is connected with the positive pole of the battery by aluminum foil, and in the middle is a polymer diaphragm, which separates the positive pole from the negative pole. However, lithium ion Li+can pass through, but electron e cannot. On the right is the negative pole of the battery composed of carbon (graphite), which is connected with the negative pole of the battery by copper foil.

  Between the upper and lower ends of the battery is the electrolyte of the battery, and the battery is sealed by a metal shell, an aluminum plastic composite film or a plastic shell.

  Advantages of LfePo4 battery:

  1. Ultra long life, the cycle life of long-life lead-acid battery is about 300 times, the maximum is 500 times. The cycle life of domestic lithium iron phosphate power battery is more than 2000 times, and the standard charging (s hour rate) can reach 2000 times. Lead acid batteries of the same quality will last for 1 to 15 years at most in the new half year, the old half year and the maintenance half year, while lithium iron phosphate batteries will last for 18 years under the same conditions. Overall, the performance price ratio will be more than: times of that of lead-acid battery.

  2. It is safe to use. Lithium iron phosphate completely solves the problem of potential safety hazards of lithium cobalt phosphate and lithium manganate.   7. Green. Disadvantages of Lifepo4 battery: poor conductivity, poor low-temperature performance.
